My Story

Here’s a glimpse into my professional journey:

Early Inspiration and Academic Pursuits

Born in India into an Air Force Defense family, I had the unique opportunity to experience diverse cultures and educational systems as I completed my schooling across different states. This diverse upbringing fueled my curiosity and adaptability, laying a strong foundation for my future endeavors. My journey in bionanotechnology began during my Master's studies at CSJM University in India, where I pursued a degree in Microbiology and graduated at the top of my class. My academic excellence was recognized with the First Rank in my college in 2010. Following this, I worked as a Microbiologist at the Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI), CSIR, India, where I honed my skills and deepened my interest in pursuing advanced research.

Pioneering Research and Professional Growth

In 2013, I moved to Suwon, South Korea, to pursue a Ph.D. at Kyung Hee University, Global Campus. Supported by the prestigious President Scholarship, I conducted pioneering research in designing nanoparticle carriers for drug delivery. My efforts were recognized with awards for paper publication in prestigious journals, underscoring the impact of my work. Upon completing my Ph.D. in 2016, I was honored with the prestigious H.C. Ørsted COFUND Postdoc Fellowship, part of the EU-funded Marie Curie project. This opportunity brought me to the Center for Biosustainability at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), where I furthered my research in bionanotechnology. My commitment and innovative approach were again acknowledged in 2019 when I received the Lundbeckfonden Postdoc Grant to establish the ongoing groundbreaking nanoparticles project. In addition, I have been awarded the Marie Curie ITN and NordForsk grants as a co-applicant and have supervised several Ph.D. students, postdocs, and master interns over the past few years. I have completed several advanced courses in biologics and advanced drug delivery systems from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and hold a leadership diploma from Copenhagen Business School (CBS) Denmark. I am also an active editor and reviewer for several high-impact scientific journals

Contributions and Recognitions

Throughout my career, I have published 76 research articles in SCI/E journals, which have garnered more than 8,000 citations in 10 years. My work has consistently aimed at advancing healthcare solutions through precise and effective therapies, particularly in the fields of cancer, inflammation, and infection treatment. My leadership and organizational skills have been instrumental in building sustainable and collaborative research networks. From 2020 to 2023, I was ranked among the Top 2% of scientists in the world for three consecutive years by Stanford University, reflecting my practical communication abilities, proactive nature, and drive to make a meaningful impact in my field.

Personal Life and Future Aspirations

Balancing my professional and personal life has been both challenging and rewarding. As a mother and wife, I find joy and strength in my family, who support my endeavors and share my dreams. In 2015, I married a soldier and proudly became an Army wife, a role that presented its own unique set of challenges. The demands and uncertainties of military life tested my resilience, but they also strengthened my resolve and adaptability. Despite these challenges, I managed to excel in my career while nurturing a fulfilling personal life. I am a blessed mother of two wonderful children, and we are living a happy life together in Denmark. My journey is a testament to the fact that one can achieve professional excellence while embracing and thriving in personal commitments.

Looking Ahead

The field of bionanotechnology holds immense potential, and I am excited about the future. My mission is to continue pushing the boundaries of science, developing innovative solutions to tackle healthcare challenges, and advocating for women in STEM. Through my work, I hope to make a lasting impact on the world, improving lives and inspiring others to follow their passions.

Thank you for joining me on this journey.

Govinda Prasad,

Project Manager, Denmark

Priyanka is a gifted scientist with a rare combination of strength of character, creativity, patience, positive attitude and research skills. I was lucky to have worked with a researcher like Priyanka, that has the ability to do her work and yet manage the time to help others to grow even though they were from a different group, as it was my case. During the three years that I got to work with her, I saw her come up with novel ideas or research proposals from zero and managed to finalize them successfully and in a short time due to the discipline and focus that she has. For all these reasons, I give her my full recommendation.

Veronica Castro-Aceituno, Postdoc, City of hope, USA

I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with Dr. Priyanka during her final semester as a PhD student candidate and postdoc at Kyung Hee University. Her hardworking attitudes, honesty, and integrity as a researcher have been a great asset to our lab. She has published multiple collaborative scientific publications in high impact SCI/E journals as a result of her ability to work in multidisciplinary field and with other researchers from different fields and backgrounds. She possesses an extensive knowledge in drug delivery and expertise in green synthesis of metal nanoparticles from various microbial and plants sources. She has put her skillsets to develop biological metallic nanoparticles as a novel anticancer and antimicrobial agents, ginsenoside delivery system using BSA and mesoporous silica. She has been pleasure to have in our Lab group with enthusiastic and inquisitive attitude. She has excellent written, verbal and organisational skills. Overall Dr. Singh has demonstrated an outstanding level of academic achievement.

Hina Singh, Project Scientist,

University of California, USA

Dr. Priyanka Singh is one of the unforgettable people I worked with throughout my research career life. I still remember the first day we met in the lab where no one knows about nanoscience. She challenged all obstacles and setup every method and protocol required to perform the nanoresearch and furthermore, she had guided the team worked with her and led it with a well-arranged plan to turn out her Ph.D. research with fruitful outcomes for her and the team members and left behind her a well-productive research team in nanomaterial biosynthesis. This actually wasn’t everything she had done during the Ph.D., she were exciting to get involved in other projects and effectively contribute with other researchers in bench performance. She used to say, and I totally agree with her, that the good scientist should expand his/her expertise in interdisciplinary research of science and shouldn’t object learning new things. I always say that she is a talented researcher with “can do” attitude and has the sense of the leadership. When she defines an issue, she doesn’t surrender until she sort it out, sometimes I feel sorry for the issue itself as it comes in the hand of Dr. Singh :D. Also, she never thought of benefiting herself alone but she used to ensure that all the team members are satisfied and equally benefited. She will be a golden reward to any place plan to recruit a good establisher and I think Technical University of Denmark have been realising that.
